Ability to Close Open Child Protection Investigation Cases is Needed

Currently there is no option to close Open Child Protection Investigation cases that were created in error.

It is a Business Requirement to have the ability to close open Child Protection Cases without having to complete the SDM assessments. When the case is in Open status the Close option should be available in order to close cases that were opened in error. This option is available with the Family Services cases. We are requesting the same functionality in order to get cases closed that were opened in error and not have to enter inaccurate information into the application.

    Hi Amber,

We have reviewed your enhancement suggestion.

Based on the information provided, our understanding of your request is as follows:
    · You are requesting the ability for an investigation worker to close investigation cases before mandatory information such as SDM assessments has been entered. This is in order to support scenarios where the investigation case was opened in error such as when a user incorrectly creates a new investigation case for a new intake rather than associating the intake to an existing investigation case.

We acknowledge the benefit of your suggested enhancement however other features are taking a priority in our planning at this time. Although we will not be addressing this item in the near term, your suggestion will be available for future consideration.

This request will be closed and we will not be taking any further action.

Thank you for taking the time to share your ideas with us. Although we cannot pursue all of the submitted suggestions, we are committed to involving our users in building our product roadmap and appreciate your ideas.

    Regards,

The business scenarios where this can occur are

    1) When there is already an existing open investigation case and instead of associating the user accidently creates a new investigation case in error. This will happen when the worker does not realize there is already an existing open investigation for the exact same report. This happens when we receive multiple intakes for example the school, the police and a neighbor may all report the exact same concern/incident/situation. If an Investigation is created for when the school called there is potential 2 more investigations can be created (when the police/neighbor when in fact only 1 is required by policy. Each call is reported separately so it can happen very easily where multiple investigations can be created in error when only 1 is required.

    2) The intake report is a duplicate (same scenario with multiple callers reporting the same concerns) and it has already been investigated and new investigation case gets created in error. This can happen when a worker does not realize the concerns have already been investigated and therefore a investigation case was created in error and is not needed.

These are the most common situations where this occurs for Business. It happens approximately 6 times a month. These are user errors where people make mistakes in creating new investigations incorrectly. We need the ability to close without having to create SDM assessments that never occurred for that case. Please let me know if you have any further questions or need any other information.

    Hi Amber,

We have reviewed your enhancement suggestion and require more information to properly understand the issue and the business scenario you are trying to support.

As was mentioned in the related PMR, the Close Investigation option is not intended to become enabled until certain activities have occurred within the Investigation case. The rationale for this is because the Investigation case has been created from a 'Screened In' CW Intake that includes at least one documented allegation, and therefore there are certain minimum activities that need to occur before the Investigation case can be closed.

What is the business scenario that results in an Investigation case being created in error?

Why and when would you not have a requirement to create and complete an Investigation from a screened-in Intake and get so far along in the process of approving an Intake and actioning the Create Investigation case task that an Investigation case would end up being created in error?

How often does this scenario occur?

Please provide the requested information within 30 days so we may proceed with our evaluation. If we do not hear from you within that timeframe we will have to close the request due to insufficient information.
