We invite you to shape the future of Curam, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:

Upvote ideas that matter most to you
Get feedback from the Curam team to refine your idea
Help Curam prioritize your ideas and requests
The Curam team may need your help to refine the ideas so they may ask for more information or feedback. The offering manager team will then decide if they can begin working on your idea. If they can start during the next development cycle, they will put the idea on the priority list. Each team at Merative works on a different schedule, where some ideas can be implemented right away, others may be placed on a different schedule.
Receive notification on the decision
Some ideas can be implemented at Merative, while others may not fit within the development plans for the product. In either case, the team will let you know as soon as possible. In some cases, we may be able to find alternatives for ideas which cannot be implemented in a reasonable time.

During User Research a desire has been expressed to have the ability to override the OOTB infrastructure field validation message associated with a fields. Currently OOTB field validation messages are drawn from the ErrorsMessages.js file. This is too rigid for the experience team.
The desire is for a project to be able to specify their own alternative message for the OOTB field validations(required, required_generic, enum, type_number, type_integer, type_other, maximum, maximum_exclusive, minimum, minimum_exclusive, maxLength, minLength, pattern, format, date, default) at the page level.

Persona Based Summary
As an Client, I'd like to have a more specific message when an OOTB validation is triggered, so that the specific message aligns to other copy used across the system. |

Hi Mark,
We have reviewed your enhancement suggestion.
Based on the information provided, our understanding of your request is as follows:
to override the OOTB client side validations associated with a field with an alternative message for the CE application
to allow this at the page level
The theme is aligned with our current multi-year strategy for our product, and we have accepted your suggestion as a consideration for a future release. Not all items under consideration will make it into a release. As plans are confirmed, you will be notified when a specific release includes this enhancement.
As part of this we will investigate if the enhancement request can be achieved through customisation. We may end up providing guidance around this to achieve the desired behaviour. This is yet to be determined.
In the meantime, to help us further understand the limitations of the existing OOTB message, can you provide some examples of ones that would be changed and what the new message would be? Also can a single field, if used across multiple pages in a form, require different validation messages depending on the specific page context?
Thank you for taking the time to share your ideas with us. We are committed to involving our users in building our product roadmap and appreciate your suggestions.
Regards,
Graham McCrindle, SPM Product Management Team
