Shape the future of Merative!

We invite you to shape the future of Merative, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:

Post your ideas

Start by posting ideas and requests to enhance a product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted and upvote them if they matter to you,

  1. Post an idea

  2. Upvote ideas that matter most to you

  3. Get feedback from the Merative team to refine your idea

Help Merative prioritize your ideas and requests

The Merative team may need your help to refine the ideas so they may ask for more information or feedback. The offering manager team will then decide if they can begin working on your idea. If they can start during the next development cycle, they will put the idea on the priority list. Each team at Merative works on a different schedule, where some ideas can be implemented right away, others may be placed on a different schedule.

Receive notification on the decision

Some ideas can be implemented at Merative, while others may not fit within the development plans for the product. In either case, the team will let you know as soon as possible. In some cases, we may be able to find alternatives for ideas which cannot be implemented in a reasonable time.

Support a Set Benefit Week in Financial Processing

Scottish Government (SG) have many benefits that pay 4 weekly in arrears.

For most, the start of the 4 weekly cycle can be any day of the week (Mon to Sun), and OOTB functions/processing supports this.

Another benefit (Carer’s Support Payment - CSP) has a set benefit week (Sun to Sat). Due to volumes, SG do not want everyone to be paid on the same day. They want the clients actual payday to be spread across the week but still paying 4 weeks in arrears for the Sun-Sat benefit week.

As an example:

  • Benefit Case Start Date = 28/05/2023 (Sun – start of the benefit week)

  • Payment Cover Period = 28/05/2023 (Sun) to 24/6/2023 (Sat) = 4 weeks

  • But we want say, the client to be on a Thursday pay day (random day selected based on their NINO), due date = 29/06/2023

  • Next processing date taking into account weekend and existing 4 day offset = 23/06/2023

SG are setting the delivery pattern to 4 weeks arrears on a Sunday to match benefit week start day BUT we actually want the client to be paid on another selected day of week, for example Thursday.

However, because the delivery pattern is set to Sunday (matching the set benefit week). Then everyone will have the same due day (i.e. Sunday) and the next processing date is set appropriately.

The only way seemingly to achieve the spread of payments over the week is OOTB customization of a core financial area.

The Ask
Ability for OOTB SPM to support a set benefit week whilst using differing delivery payment frequencies to spread financial processing. This also ensures the payment cover periods match the benefit weeks.

Provide a hook point to enable the calculated OOTB nextProcessingDate to be overriden with custom processing.

Customer Name Scottish Government
Persona Based Summary

As a client advisor, I want to be able to take a CSP claim

Which has a set benefit week of Sun to Sat

and pay eligible clients 4 weeks in arrears for a Sun to Sat benefit period on a different day as stated by the delivery frequency

Market Segment WH Government
Type of Request Customer Requirement
Market Opportunity

Allows more flexibility to government organisations in paying clients. More attractive to current and future clients.

Usage frequency + #/type of users impacted

Currently this would impact all CSP cases (around 120K that are being transferred and then new claims on top of this).

CURAM:Workarounds + Proposed Solution

Delivery frequency is being set to 4 weeks in arrears every Sunday but SG are customing financial processing to manipulate the next processing date, both at case activation and during GILI processing.

    Hi Gary,

We have reviewed your enhancement suggestion. Based on the information provided and discussions with Lab Services staff, our understanding of your request is as follows:

    • You are requesting an enhancement to support the ability to compliantly change the calculated next processing date for financial payments to be able to distribute payments to different clients on different dates for a program with a set benefit week.

The theme is aligned with our current strategy for our product to continue to provide enhancements that enable compliant customization of financials processing and we have accepted your suggestion as a consideration for a future release.

Thank you for taking the time to share your ideas with us. We are committed to involving our users in building our product roadmap and appreciate your suggestions.

    Thank you,

Sheryl Brenton, SPM Product Management Team
