Shape the future of Merative!

We invite you to shape the future of Merative, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:

Post your ideas

Start by posting ideas and requests to enhance a product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted and upvote them if they matter to you,

  1. Post an idea

  2. Upvote ideas that matter most to you

  3. Get feedback from the Merative team to refine your idea

Help Merative prioritize your ideas and requests

The Merative team may need your help to refine the ideas so they may ask for more information or feedback. The offering manager team will then decide if they can begin working on your idea. If they can start during the next development cycle, they will put the idea on the priority list. Each team at Merative works on a different schedule, where some ideas can be implemented right away, others may be placed on a different schedule.

Receive notification on the decision

Some ideas can be implemented at Merative, while others may not fit within the development plans for the product. In either case, the team will let you know as soon as possible. In some cases, we may be able to find alternatives for ideas which cannot be implemented in a reasonable time.

Enhancement request to fix issues with editable text drop downs

This is an enhancement request to fix issues with editable text drop downs

Issue 1

Curam v7 uses editable text dropdowns. SAMS common intake has 100+ questions that are asked from clients in Universal access and from case workers in Case worker portal. Many of the questions use dropdowns and a large proportion of the dropdowns have limited values that users (especially internal staff) get familiar with over time. Since common intake has large number of questions and because caseworkers are used to lot of data entry, they prefer to type in the value they want to select and tab through to the next question. For yes/no questions, if user types in n and tab through to next question quickly, the predictive text dropdown does not select No and user ends up with invalid response.
This issue was not present in v6. Pressing n and quickly tabbing through to the next question would have correctly selected No 100% of the time
Also, even for a simple yes/no dropdown, the response time for choosing the first value when user types in n or y is few hundred milli seconds and this is visibly slow.

Issue 2

If the options have the same first word, user has to type in all the letters to get to option that they want to select.
For example - for education status, the dropdown options are Grade1 to Grade 10. If user has to select Grade 10, when he types in G, all options that start with G (Grade1, Grade 2, .. Grade 10) are displayed. When down arrow is used the option is not highlighted in the list. So it is hard to know where you are current in the options list.

Issue 3

The filtering of options when a letter is entered is too slow

    Hi Vinod,
We are pleased to inform you that your enhancement request has been partially delivered in the new release of IBM Social Program Management, version 8.0.0.

The following points highlight the improvements in the SPM V8.0.0 release and our continued commitment to ongoing iterative improvements in future releases.

The majority of dropdowns in SPM have been converted to the IBM Carbon dropdown component.
For more detailed information on dropdowns in Carbon please refer to the Carbon Design Documentation here: https://www.carbondesignsystem.com/components/dropdown/usage/

The following points from the combo box dropdown variant are most applicable to this enhancement request:
    • When typing a character, focus stays on the field while an option in the menu is highlighted that best matches the typed character.
    • When typing multiple characters in rapid succession, focus stays on the field while an option in the menu is highlighted that best matches the string of characters typed.

Thank you for taking the time to share your ideas with us. We will keep this request open as planned for a future release and inform you when all dropdowns in SPM have been converted.

    Regards,
Shane McFadden, SPM Offering Management team

    Hi Vinod,

We have evaluated your request and have determined that it cannot be implemented at this time as the editable drop downs are working as designed OOTB.

We recommend that the design of your customers intake scripts are updated to change Yes/No drop downs to radio buttons for a better user experience. See this US WDS link: https://designsystem.digital.gov/components/form-controls/ under the Dropdrown section where it is stated "If the list of options is very short. Use radio buttons instead."

Your request may be resubmitted for consideration after 12 months from the date of decline.

Thank you for your interest in the Cúram SPM product.
