Shape the future of Merative!

We invite you to shape the future of Merative, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:

Post your ideas

Start by posting ideas and requests to enhance a product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted and upvote them if they matter to you,

  1. Post an idea

  2. Upvote ideas that matter most to you

  3. Get feedback from the Merative team to refine your idea

Help Merative prioritize your ideas and requests

The Merative team may need your help to refine the ideas so they may ask for more information or feedback. The offering manager team will then decide if they can begin working on your idea. If they can start during the next development cycle, they will put the idea on the priority list. Each team at Merative works on a different schedule, where some ideas can be implemented right away, others may be placed on a different schedule.

Receive notification on the decision

Some ideas can be implemented at Merative, while others may not fit within the development plans for the product. In either case, the team will let you know as soon as possible. In some cases, we may be able to find alternatives for ideas which cannot be implemented in a reasonable time.

Curam attempts to use email-based password recovery when no SMTP server has been configured

Password recovery is a standard feature of all websites for which user registration is required. Curam offers two options for password recovery: secret-question-based password recovery and email-based password recovery. Unfortunately, Curam lacks a mechanism by which to select which option should be used. Instead, email-based password recovery is attempted for any user with an email address even when no mail server is configured to actually send the email, meaning these users cannot recover their passwords (see https://www.ibm.com/support/pages/apar/PO08930). This request is to add a Curam configuration property to allow system administrators to configure Curam for which password recovery option is appropriate for the client.

    Hi Shane,

The previous response discussed the need to replace the OOTB sign-up and login pages with custom versions. However, this issue is not related to either of those, it is related to the forgotten password functionality, so how does that response relevant address our issue?

    Kind regards,
    Jason

    Hi Jason,

We have reviewed your enhancement suggestion. Based on the information provided, our understanding of your request is as follows:
    * Allow administrators to explicitly set whether to use email-based password recovery by setting a configuration property.

Our experience from other deployments of Universal Access is that customers implement their own SSO account management.
We have a section in Knowledge Centre where we explain that the account login is for demo purposes only and customers should build their own account management flow:
    https://www.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/en/SS8S5A_7.0.11/com.ibm.curam.universalaccess.doc/CitizenEngagement/c_CE_security_protect_development.html
    "Consider your authentication strategy
The reference application provides basic sign-up and log-in pages to demonstrate how the IBM® Universal Access Responsive Web Application can be integrated with a IBM Cúram Social Program Management deployment. These features are provided as references, but are not intended to be directly deployed into production.
You must consider your authentication strategy and ensure it meets your organization's requirements. For example, you might need to integrate with an Identity Provider in your authentication flow, or use a captcha for your sign-up or log-in pages."

We are closing this request and do not plan to take any further action. If you believe we have misunderstood your request please respond within 7 days with clarifications.

Thank you for taking the time to share your ideas with us. We are committed to involving our users in building our product roadmap and appreciate your suggestions.
