Upgrading the H2 DB Driver for Curam SPM

In SPM OOTB repo, CuramSDEJ folder has a "drivers" folder which has h2-1.3.176 driver (2014).

We are looking for upgrading this driver in the OOTB, so that latest H2 functionalities can be used to execute the Oracle SQL queries in H2.

As we had created a PMR for this, it was recommended to raise an enhancement request.

Customer Name Department of Employment and Social Development (ESDC)
Persona Based Summary

As a developer, I would like to use the latest H2 database driver in my local workspace from Curam repository. This will allow us to use H2 supported functionalities in executing Oracle SQL queries in H2.

Market Segment WH Government
Type of Request Customer Requirement
Market Opportunity

Upgrading the H2 driver would allow many other clients to use the H2 database with all the supported functionalities with Curam.

Usage frequency + #/type of users impacted

This solution would be used by more than 10 users frequently.

CURAM:Workarounds + Proposed Solution

Since Oracle DB build time is extremely long in the ESDC laptops using VPN with occasional timeout errors, we are using H2 database in our locals. So far the errors seen in the H2, due to Oracle SQL queries are fixed using the INIT and RUNSCRIPT feature from H2. Some examples:

1. Oracle to_date() error in H2 is fixed by creating an ALIAS in the initialization script.

2. Date format errors in H2 are fixed in the DMX files.

3. The Fetch statement is supported only for mode DB2 or Derby or PostgreSQL in H2-1.3.x version. It is supported from H2-1.4.x for all modes. To solve the issue: “SETMODE=PostgreSQL” is used as a workaround for now.

Upgrading the H2 driver in the OOTB CuramSDEJ folder, would allow us to use the latest H2 functionalities to execute the Oracle SQL queries in H2 besides writing the user defined functions as explained above.

    Hi Saika,

We have reviewed your enhancement suggestion. Based on the information provided our understanding of your request is as follows:

    • You are requesting that the version of the H2 DB Driver that is shipped with product be upgraded to the latest version of the H2 database to support the capabilities that are available in the newer version of the software.

The theme is aligned with our current strategy for our product to continue to stay current with third part tooling and we have accepted your suggestion as a consideration for a future release.

Thank you for taking the time to share your ideas with us. We are committed to involving our users in building our product roadmap and appreciate your suggestions.
