Merative Ideas Portal

Shape the future of Merative!

We invite you to shape the future of Merative, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:

Post your ideas

Start by posting ideas and requests to enhance a product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted and upvote them if they matter to you,

  1. Post an idea

  2. Upvote ideas that matter most to you

  3. Get feedback from the Merative team to refine your idea

Help Merative prioritize your ideas and requests

The Merative team may need your help to refine the ideas so they may ask for more information or feedback. The offering manager team will then decide if they can begin working on your idea. If they can start during the next development cycle, they will put the idea on the priority list. Each team at Merative works on a different schedule, where some ideas can be implemented right away, others may be placed on a different schedule.

Receive notification on the decision

Some ideas can be implemented at Merative, while others may not fit within the development plans for the product. In either case, the team will let you know as soon as possible. In some cases, we may be able to find alternatives for ideas which cannot be implemented in a reasonable time.

Introduce Support for Database as a Service

Our Cloud Native Roadmap (which has been externalised has always looked at introducing support for Database as a service. The reality is in a Cloud Native landscape, there is a push or a stere to move away from VM's where possible. In technical presentations between PD and customers in 2020, all customers asked us about our plans to support DB as a service. Up until, this point we were uncommitted. The reality is, once we go down that road, technically we lock customers in to a specific vendor.

In February 2020 we learned that Clark county may award IBM Services to manage their infrastructure and operations. As part of that work, the team have managed to convince the customer to move from Oracle to DB2. The plan from a database perspective is to support v8.0 with DB 11.5. When we support Database as a Service, Clark County will migrate to that. This move they predict will potentially reduce the operations cost by 40%, because managing VM's from a high availability perspective is very expensive from an operational perspective.

Note from ESDC: Azure does not support Oracle HA.

There may be an ask from ESDC to consider Oracle as a service.

Feedback from Graham Mc Crindle:

Consider SGs focus on AWS I'm sure they would be looking to want to use one the DBaaS provided on AWS
