Merative Ideas Portal

Shape the future of Merative!

We invite you to shape the future of Merative, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:

Post your ideas

Start by posting ideas and requests to enhance a product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted and upvote them if they matter to you,

  1. Post an idea

  2. Upvote ideas that matter most to you

  3. Get feedback from the Merative team to refine your idea

Help Merative prioritize your ideas and requests

The Merative team may need your help to refine the ideas so they may ask for more information or feedback. The offering manager team will then decide if they can begin working on your idea. If they can start during the next development cycle, they will put the idea on the priority list. Each team at Merative works on a different schedule, where some ideas can be implemented right away, others may be placed on a different schedule.

Receive notification on the decision

Some ideas can be implemented at Merative, while others may not fit within the development plans for the product. In either case, the team will let you know as soon as possible. In some cases, we may be able to find alternatives for ideas which cannot be implemented in a reasonable time.

Configuration Option to Prevent the OOTB PDF of an Application Submission Being Created

In common intake we have the OOTB worklow ProcessIntakeApplication which processes the application submission. One of the activities of this workflow is to create a PDF of the submitted data.

The template used for this is very basic (format not great), and it extracts out ALL the info related to the submission.

The issue we have is that as part of the application, equality survey questions are asked which cannot be outputted to the OOTB PDF for policy reasons.

We do have a custom process to generate a more friendly looking PDF which only displays valid information as part of the submission.

In addition, we've had to override the OOTB ProcessIntakeApplication and remove the OOTB PDF creation activity. It would have been better if we could have just configured an option not to produce it in the first place.

Customer Name Scottish Government
Persona Based Summary

As a client advisor I want to be able to view an application submission PDF showing only appropriate details that the client provided.

Market Segment Eligibility & Entitlement
Type of Request Idea
Market Opportunity

N/A

Usage frequency + #/type of users impacted

This would be used every time an application submission is made within the solution, i.e. frequency is high, every day.

CURAM:Workarounds + Proposed Solution

1) Overrode the OOTB workflow to not create the OOTB PDF. Have a custom PDF process to output appropriate sections of the application submission.

2) Would prefer a configuration option to prevent the PDF from being created rather than overriding the workflow.

    Dear Gary

We have reviewed your enhancement suggestion.

Based on the information provided, our understanding of your request is as follows:

    • You are requesting the ability to administratively configure though the use of an application property whether or not the ProcessIntakeApplication workflow process should create a PDF document as part of the process.

In product there are customization points available to customize both the ProcessIntakeApplication workflow process and the generic PDF summary form that is created for processed applications. Also for the PDF summary form, customers can choose between an improved template or a default template. https://www.ibm.com/docs/en/spm/8.0.2?topic=intake-customizing-application-workflow https://www.ibm.com/docs/en/spm/8.0.2?topic=workflow-customizing-generic-pdf-summary-form-processed-applications

Because product already provides these customization points, we are closing this request and do not plan to take any further action.

If there were customizations that you were unable to implement to the PDF document using the existing customizations points, could you please let us know.

Thank you for taking the time to share your ideas with us. We are committed to involving our users in building our product roadmap and appreciate your suggestions.

    Regards,

Sheryl Brenton - SPM Product Management Team

Just one other comment on this - I see the creator of this ticket says Guest and not my name. Can this be changed to my name/email address?

    Hi There,

Apologies for the late reply to the request for more info. I didn't receive any indication that more info was required.

A configuration option would be better for the simple reason it's less effort than overridding the workflow plus reduced or mitigates upgrade effort going forward.

    Thanks

    Gary

    Hi Gary,

We have reviewed your enhancement suggestion and require more information to properly understand the issue and the business scenario you are trying to support.

We would like to request more information to help us evaluate this request.

You mentioned that "It would have been better if we could have just configured an option not to produce it in the first place."

Can you provide the reasons as to why you think that having a configuration option would have been more of a benefit to you than just customizing the workflow process as you did to remove the activity?

Please provide the requested information within 30 days so we may proceed with our evaluation. If we do not hear from you within that timeframe, we will have to close the request due to insufficient information.

    Thank you,
Sheryl Brenton, SPM Product Management Team

Hi Sheryl (hope all is well!),

I can confirm that we created and released a new version of the Intake Application Workflow process from which we removed the activity that creates the OOTB PDF (no other changes).

Any further questions then please let me know.

    Many thanks
    Gary
