Curam Ideas Portal

Shape the future of Curam!

We invite you to shape the future of Curam, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:

Post your ideas

Start by posting ideas and requests to enhance a product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted and upvote them if they matter to you,

  1. Post an idea

  2. Upvote ideas that matter most to you

  3. Get feedback from the Curam team to refine your idea

Help Curam prioritize your ideas and requests

The Curam team may need your help to refine the ideas so they may ask for more information or feedback. The offering manager team will then decide if they can begin working on your idea. If they can start during the next development cycle, they will put the idea on the priority list. Each team at Merative works on a different schedule, where some ideas can be implemented right away, others may be placed on a different schedule.

Receive notification on the decision

Some ideas can be implemented at Merative, while others may not fit within the development plans for the product. In either case, the team will let you know as soon as possible. In some cases, we may be able to find alternatives for ideas which cannot be implemented in a reasonable time.

Allow other JDK's other than IBM, Oracle and Adoptium JDK's

This Adoptium JDK seems to be one of 3 JDK's supported by Curam (Merative) as per https://curam-spm-devops.github.io/wh-support-docs/spm/prerequisites/813/ and since SG use OpenJDK over Oracle JDK it's what they use as the JDK for AMI builds when we build the SPM machine images.

However due to some reason we keep having issues pulling the Adoptium OpenJDK package due to issues at the Adoptium end. It is part of the build process.

This is SG's ticket for it - https://github.com/adoptium/adoptium-support/issues/1285.

the idea is are Merative are willing to support other JDK's for example OpenJDK (https://openjdk.org/) seems to be the go to package for Oracle JDK replacement, alternatively our Client would prefer to use AWS Corretto (https://aws.amazon.com/corretto) for JDK's which at the moment Curam does not seem to support.

Customer Name Scottish Government
Persona Based Summary

As a Developer/DevOps engineer i'd like to use OpenJDK to run and plaform Curam in production and non production environments.

Market Segment Cloud
Type of Request Idea
Market Opportunity

The Market opportunity for this is to support more JDK's to better meet client needs and preferred platform requirements.

CURAM:Workarounds + Proposed Solution

Currently using the Adoptium JDK which works but has issues wirh puling from repos' see https://github.com/adoptium/adoptium-support/issues/1285.

    Hi Matt,

Thank you for taking the time to share your enhancement suggestion with us. We’ve carefully reviewed your request and would like to share our perspective.

From what you’ve outlined, we understand that you're looking for support for an alternative to Adoptium OpenJDK—specifically OpenJDK or AWS Corretto.

After thorough consideration, we’ve decided not to pursue this enhancement. Our current product strategy includes support for Adoptium JDK as an alternative to Oracle and IBM JDKs, and we believe this approach best aligns with our long-term goals. As such, we’ll be closing this request and won’t be taking further action on it.

We truly value your input and appreciate your engagement. While we can’t implement every suggestion, your feedback plays an important role in shaping our roadmap and improving the product.

    Thanks

Graham McCrindle, CURAM Product Management Team
