Shape the future of Curam!

We invite you to shape the future of Curam, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:

Post your ideas

Start by posting ideas and requests to enhance a product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted and upvote them if they matter to you,

  1. Post an idea

  2. Upvote ideas that matter most to you

  3. Get feedback from the Curam team to refine your idea

Help Curam prioritize your ideas and requests

The Curam team may need your help to refine the ideas so they may ask for more information or feedback. The offering manager team will then decide if they can begin working on your idea. If they can start during the next development cycle, they will put the idea on the priority list. Each team at Merative works on a different schedule, where some ideas can be implemented right away, others may be placed on a different schedule.

Receive notification on the decision

Some ideas can be implemented at Merative, while others may not fit within the development plans for the product. In either case, the team will let you know as soon as possible. In some cases, we may be able to find alternatives for ideas which cannot be implemented in a reasonable time.

Cúram to Support MQ on Kubernetes (EKS, AKS, etc.)

Currently Cúram only supports:

  • IBM MQ LTS on a VM, when running on AKS

  • MQ on Openshift

Openshift is a limiting choice for clients who want to use MQ on Kubernetes.

As more and more clients are moving towards Cloud and containerisation, then it would be good that the product supports more than 1 option.

IBM is supporting MQ on containers from version 9.4. Please be aware that it is MQ Advanced provides this support not base MQ.

It would be a great opportunity for Cúram to support MQ on Kubernetes across more options (AKS, EKS, etc.) and would allow clients to may be realise their architectural objectives, rather than having MQ sat in VM’s outside of a Kubernetes cluster.

Customer Name Scottish Government
Persona Based Summary

As a user of cloud I would to implement MQ on Kubernetes outside of Openshift.

Market Segment Health & Human Services, Eligibility & Entitlement, Cloud, Child Welfare
Type of Request Idea
Market Opportunity

As mentioned, it would be a great opportunity for Cúram to support MQ on Kubernetes across more options (AKS, EKS, etc.) and would allow clients to may be realise their architectural objectives, rather than having MQ sat in VM’s outside of a Kubernetes cluster. It may entice more clients to select Curam as a product as it would offer more flexibility (options) to support a fully containerised architecture without the premium cost of using Openshift. It may also mean existing clients are more willing to move to cloud with the options available which Curam could help with.

Usage frequency + #/type of users impacted

Would say most Curam projects would prefer/want more flexible options for using IBM MQ on Kubernetes rather than having it on VM's or being forced to use a specific configuration (e.g. Openshift).

CURAM:Workarounds + Proposed Solution

Scottish Government are currently on 8.1.3 so have no need for IBM MQ at the moment but they are looking to upgrade to 8.2 as well as move to EKS by the end of 2026.
