Grouping of Curam tabs

At WSBC, a user will have opened a Review for processing, which will open to the home page tab representing it. There is typically 5-6 tabs opened from that first 'parent' Review tab.

  • These 'child' tabs are where a lot of the caseworker's work is done and can take hours to complete.

  • They can have a number of different Reviews open during the day as they work through them as data becomes available to them.

    • So they have a lot of tabs open, and you can think of them as grouped together but there is no visual appearance/representation of that.

  • When they have finished working on a Review, they have to look at each tab opened, remember if it was from a particular 'parent' Review, and close each tab one by one.

    • Sometimes, they accidentally close the wrong tab from another Review.

    • You can't close all tabs because that would close all the other Reviews and 'child' tabs they are still working on.

  • What they would like to see:

    • Ability to group a tabs opened from the 'parent' tab as belonging together with 'child' tabs.

    • Ability to right click a 'parent' Review tab or any tab in the 'child' tabs group, and perform a "Close tabs in this group".

      • It might be a 'Close all tabs in group' and 'Close child tabs in group' - the latter leaving the 'parent' Review tab open.

    • Ability to have an event triggered on a specific Action on one of the other tabs; think of it as a "Final" action they do in terms of business functionality eg "Advance the Review to next phase", and it in turn will cause all the tabs in the group to be closed, leaving open the Review tab they started from.

      • The Review has various phases it advances through over time so the Review tab is left open often.

    • Apply a visual representation to those tabs in a group, to help identify them as together in the group. eg. a number in a box in the tab? Could be a coloured box but was thinking of staying away from colours and having text would be easier for JAWS to read (and could have tooltip help of Review page title etc)

  • Stretch:

    • Ability to right click the Review tab (or indeed any tab in a associated group), and see in the popup menu, a list of all the tab titles from the grouped tabs, and then clicking on one would navigate them to that opened tab.

      • I think they figure since they put a lot of info into the tab title, it gets obscured, but if it was showing up in the right click menu, it would show more and be quicker to identify and navigate to.

So this is obviously an enhancement to the infrastructure of the UI.

  • We would need some way to configure which pages are to be a 'parent', which are 'child'

  • How would we define it in the navigation files for those opening in tabs from the 'parent' so the tab has the 'group identifier' included in it

  • So when the tab(s) are closed as a group, it only closes the associated tabs

  • Need new right click menu options on the tabs

  • CSS and/or something to visually identify grouped tabs

I've attached a video of a brief mockup.

    Hi Andrew,

We have reviewed your enhancement suggestion.

Based on the information provided, our understanding of your request is as follows:

While a user is opening new tabs in the caseworker application, provide a mechanism to form a group of related tabs, allowing the users to understand which tabs go together as a group therefore allowing them to work on this group of tabs together as a unit and close them all together if needed.

We acknowledge the benefit of your suggested enhancement however other features are taking a priority in our planning currently. Although we will not be addressing this item in the near term, your suggestion will be available for future consideration. This request will be closed, and we will not be taking any further action.

Thank you for taking the time to share your ideas with us. Although we cannot pursue all the submitted suggestions, we are committed to involving our users in building our product roadmap and appreciate your ideas.

    Regards,

Des McCann, SPM Product Management Team

    Hi Andrew,

We have reviewed your enhancement suggestion and require more information to properly understand the issue and the business scenario you are trying to support.

Based on the information provided It seems that the grouping of the tabs is a way to link the related information together for a particular review but is there other business processes that the caseworker is also involved in that would require a similar way to consolidate information.

    • Can you please give more details on the specific tasks being undertaken by the caseworker?

You mention the review processes undertaken by the case worker. In this context can you advise on the following:

    • Does the case being reviewed focus on information related to on a single person or are there multiple participants.

    • Once the information is received where the information stored, (for example in a person case or another case types). This will help us understand where the associated information (eg. it may all be on an integrated case)

    • Would it be likely that more than one browser per monitor could be open?

Please provide the requested information within 30 days so we may proceed with our evaluation. If we do not hear from you within that timeframe, we will have to close the request due to insufficient information.

    Thank you,

Des McCann, SPM Product Management Team

Hi Claire, sorry, this one dropped off the radar during our go live.

Some comments from WSBC business folks (and input from one of our BAs):

    • It appears that the data required is received incrementally. How is this data received (for example does the user contact the person under review and leave the tab open while awaiting a response)?

WSBC: There are a couple of situations. They may be expecting submissions on various reviews based on due dates and when the submission is received, triggers them to take different actions. These submissions may be received via paper or through an external facing application. Also, there is the concept of a ‘checklist’ to help ensure all information and steps have been taken before the review can move to the next stage. The checklist is a page within the application and has links on it to other pages that enable them to take action on items that may not have been done. The checklist page would stay open while the steps/actions on it are completed. When the checklist is complete, several pages could be open and then all closed at once.

Curam: Both business groups, WCAT and RD-CMS, decided to have the system close all tabs upon logout of the session. We explained that the worker will need to recreate their open tabs if they get logged out before they are done.

    • in the business process followed is it always a link that is clicked to open the new tab (as shown in the sample video linked to the idea)?

WSBC: To-date it has been a link that is clicked to open the new tab. But there could be potential where, for example, clicking a ‘submit’ button would initiate a process that could then open a new tab depending on the results of the process. Maybe similar to a workflow.

Curam: I would expect a link to open a new tab and a modal to close and return to the originating page. For example, New Address modal returns the user to the Addresses summary page.

    • When the user opens the new tabs do they ever right click “open in a new browser Tab” or new browser window?

WSBC: Wouldn’t say never. One situation could be where they need to create a document within the application. They would have the document open on one monitor with the review open on another monitor so they can see the review details while they prepare the document. Could open the document using a right click option.

Curam: I don’t think so. However, some of the actions open a new browser window such as when they select one of the CMS links.

    • In the idea it mentioned that 5-6 tabs are opened from the main parent tab per review. Are these always the same 5-6 tabs in the same order or does this depend on the specifics of the data that becomes available?

WSBC: The checklist is an example here. It would be much the same set of pages depending on the stage the review is in. Pages could include the Review Home page, the Checklist page, and then launched from the Checklist page a page to record the issue(s) under review, a page to record the parties participating in the review, potentially the Applicant’s Home page.

    • The idea mentioned that the tabs associated with multiple reviews could be open at one time, do we know the average number of different reviews open&tabs open in parallel?

WSBC: Don’t know the average, but definitely not uncommon for a caseworker to be working on multiple reviews at the same time. Especially the ‘intake’ caseworkers who triage the cases and collect the necessary information from the different parties involved. So they may be reaching out to the applicant for information and while waiting for someone to get back to them, do the same thing on another case.

    Hi Andrew

We have reviewed your enhancement suggestion.

Based on the information provided, our understanding of your request is as follows:

    • You would like a way to see differences between the client’s current version of CE and the one they are looking to upgrade to, similar to the file changes report provided for SPM releases, in order to help project teams prepare for upgrades.

The theme is aligned with our current multi-year strategy for our product, and we have accepted your suggestion as a consideration for a future release. Not all items under consideration will make it into a release. As plans are confirmed, you will be notified when a specific release includes this enhancement.

Thank you for taking the time to share your ideas with us. We are committed to involving our users in building our product roadmap and appreciate your suggestions.

    Regards,
